 A Few Things  We Know from Our Experience

Some organizations still equate diversity with equal employment opportunity. We think this is a disservice to both efforts.

Today, training remains the cornerstone of many organization diversity efforts. We think this over-reliance on a single strategy ensures minimal progress towards meaningful institutional change.

Some diversity advocates over-rely on the rhetoric of “oppression,” “dominance” and “isms” to build the case for change. While well intended, we think this can diminish real progress and reinforce suspicion, “us vs. them” thinking and inter-group hostility.

Increasing visible diversity and building a diversity-friendly organization culture are two distinct goals. We prefer to work with clients who have a long-term commitment to achieving both.
